Emergency Pest Service in East Texas: When to Call and What Happens

The short answer From the field team

A pest emergency is anything with safety, structural or financial urgency: stinging insects near an entry, rodents in an occupied kitchen, an active real-estate closing needing a WDI report, or a commercial food-service violation. Call the office (Mon–Fri, 8–5) and we'll triage — urgent situations go to the top of the list.

What actually counts as a pest emergency?

Four categories genuinely warrant urgent response:

  1. Safety — stinging insects. A wasp or yellow-jacket nest at a doorway, garage entry, or high-traffic outdoor area, especially with allergy-vulnerable household members.
  2. Health — active rodents in an occupied kitchen or bedroom. Not scratching in the attic (still important, still urgent) — visible rats inside food-prep or sleeping areas.
  3. Structural / financial — real-estate transaction pressure. Closing date needs a WDI report, buyer's inspection surfaced termite activity, or coverage is expiring on the day of closing.
  4. Commercial — health inspector citation or audit pressure. Food-service or hospitality account with an active violation that has to be documented and remediated by a specific date.

Where the "emergency" label doesn't apply

Some situations feel urgent but tolerate scheduled response inside a normal service window:

  • Occasional ants or wandering tree roaches — normal service on the next available slot.
  • Mosquitoes for an outdoor event — schedule ahead when you can.
  • Termite evidence with no closing pressure — inspection soon, treatment on your schedule.
  • Winter roach sighting — start recurring service on the next opening.

Everything gets handled quickly; the emergency label is reserved for time-critical safety, health or transactional situations.

What should you do until we arrive?

Category-by-category:

  • Stinging insects — avoid the area, keep kids and pets away, do not spray retail wasp spray onto a large ground nest (agitates the colony). Note the exact location for the technician.
  • Indoor rodents — remove open food, contain the observed area (close doors to affected rooms if possible), do not deploy poison indoors (see rodent cost guide — creates dead-in-wall problems).
  • WDI / real-estate — pull the closing docs, note the required report window (VA loans commonly 90 days), and let us know when we call which lender is on the deal.
  • Commercial citation — pull the citation, note the required corrective-action deadline, and gather the last few service reports for the walkthrough.

What happens on an emergency visit?

Immediate on-site inspection, targeted treatment or removal that addresses the emergency itself, and a written record of what was done — plus, when relevant, a follow-up scheduled to cover what an emergency visit doesn't (exclusion, monitoring, ongoing plan). Emergency visits don't replace a full program; they buy time and fix the acute problem.

What are the failure modes?

  • Trying to DIY a stinging insect nest at an entry. Real hazard; safety alone justifies professional response.
  • Ignoring visible indoor rodents. Wiring risk and contamination compound daily.
  • Assuming any inspector can write a valid Texas WDI report. Only TDA-licensed operators can — see the licensing guide.
  • Calling three companies simultaneously. One licensed provider on the phone, clearly briefed, gets to you faster.

How does Spot On triage emergency calls?

Local phone, real people answering — no call center routing. Our office is open Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm. Call, describe what's happening, and we'll triage honestly: safety-critical situations go to the top of the list, and we'll find the first opening that works for everything else — prioritized on real urgency rather than order-of-call.

What should you do next?

Call (936) 632-6464 or request emergency service online. If you're not sure it's an emergency, the pest emergency contact guide walks through what qualifies.

Quick questions

Is same-day service available?

Call and we'll tell you honestly what today looks like — safety-critical emergencies inside our service area get top priority, and scheduling depends on route and season. We won't promise a window we can't keep.

Do emergency visits cost more?

Standard visit pricing applies for our recurring customers. New-customer emergency service is priced honestly at the visit and quoted before dispatch — no surprise charges.

What if I'm outside your service area?

Call anyway — we'll direct you to a licensed local provider if we can't get to you in the required window. A safety-critical pest situation shouldn't wait on geography.
