Spot On is now TDA Category L certified — which means the same team that protects the inside of your home is now licensed by the Texas Department of Agriculture to protect the outside too. Our Lawn & Ornamental program covers three named services designed for East Texas turf.
Johnnie's Red Army Takedown is our signature fire-ant + perimeter lawn treatment — the outdoor pillar behind Johnnie's Yard Pass. Pre-Emergent Weed Treatment goes down before the growing season to stop crabgrass, dallisgrass and broadleaf weeds before they sprout. Post-Emergent Weed Treatment cleans up what already broke through. Yard Pass members save $50 on every visit.
The three programs behind Lawn & Ornamental
Johnnie’s Red Army Takedown
Signature fire-ant + perimeter lawn treatment. Collapses visible mounds, treats the yard perimeter against re-invasion, and knocks down the fire-ant pressure that keeps kids and pets off the grass. The outdoor pillar behind Johnnie’s Yard Pass.
Pre-Emergent Weed Treatment
Goes down before weeds are visible — late winter for spring weeds (Feb/Mar) and early fall for winter weeds (Sept/Oct). Stops crabgrass, dallisgrass and broadleaf weeds before they sprout in East Texas turf.
Post-Emergent Weed Treatment
Goes down after weeds are up and visible. Clears what broke through so your lawn recovers a clean, uniform look — ideal as a paired follow-up to pre-emergent, or as a rescue treatment.
Yard Pass members save $50 on every visit
Johnnie’s Yard Pass is our $8/month outdoor add-on for active SPOTGuard Defense members. It knocks $50 off every Lawn & Ornamental visit — including Red Army Takedown, pre-emergent and post-emergent — and stacks with member pricing on mosquito treatment ($60 vs. $120), mole follow-ups and gutter cleaning. If you plan to book more than one lawn treatment across the year, Yard Pass usually pays for itself on the first visit. See Yard Pass benefits →
What TDA Category L certified means
The Texas Department of Agriculture licenses commercial pesticide applicators by category. Category L covers Landscape Maintenance — the treatments used on residential and commercial turf and ornamentals. Only certified applicators are allowed to apply Category-L products in Texas. Our team is fully certified, so the same trusted crew that protects the inside of your home is licensed to protect the outside too.

Our team is fully certified.
What is Johnnie's Red Army Takedown?
Our signature fire-ant + perimeter lawn treatment. One application collapses visible mounds, treats the perimeter of your yard against re-invasion, and knocks down the fire-ant pressure that keeps kids and pets off the grass. Named after Pawpaw Johnnie — the grandfather behind our ladybug mascot.
When should I book pre-emergent vs post-emergent weed treatment?
Pre-emergent goes down BEFORE weeds are visible — late winter for spring weeds (February/March in East Texas), and early fall for winter weeds (September/October). Post-emergent goes down AFTER weeds are up and visible. Most lawns need both across the year — Yard Pass members get $50 off each visit, so it's usually the cheapest way to keep East Texas turf clean.
Do I have to be on a SPOTGuard plan to get lawn service?
No — Lawn & Ornamental is available as a standalone service too. But if you're already a SPOTGuard member, adding Johnnie's Yard Pass ($8/mo) unlocks $50 off every lawn & ornamental visit and stacks with the mosquito, mole and gutter member perks. Most lawn-heavy East Texas homes save money on the very first visit.
